While most of us spent the first few days of lockdown perfecting our yeast, Iris Apatow was in a luxurious British estate with some of the funniest people on the planet. The 19-year-old actor is part of the expanding cast inthe bubble, his father Judd's latest comedy (currently streaming on Netflix) about a movie production trying to make a hitJurassic Parkblockbuster style during the pandemic. Apatow, who stars alongside Fred Armisen, Keegan-Michael Key and her mother Leslie Mann, plays a TikTok influencer with 100 million followers (Iris has a paltry 512,400 by comparison), which means she had to learn some routines. great choreographer Ryan Heffington. To discuss this process, her style inspiration and her latest viewing habits, Apatow got on the phone to answer questions from someone who already knows her very well.

MAUDE: This is so weird! We were on the phone before that.
IRIS: You've had experience with this since you were younger. You used to do interviews, just act like I was Rebel Wilson or something.
MAUDE: I probably haven't done an interview since 2015, so I'm a little rusty! But I just realized that you can do an amazing Elizabeth Holmes impression.
IRIS: Why would you bring it here?
MAUDE: I just have to say it's amazing.
IRIS: It's true, I can make a pretty stellar Elizabeth Holmes.
MAUDE: Speaking of which.the abandonment, What did you watch last night?
IRIS: WeNo way out, which is a new horror movie on Hulu and it's pretty good. It's Maude's friend Danny.
MAUDE: Danny Ramirez! One of my closest friends. How do you usually watch TV?
IRIS: Stop laughing, Maude! I usually watch it in the living room of the apartment where I live or on the computer in bed, but I tend to watch everything on Netflix and Hulu.
MAUDE: Well, who is your style inspiration?
IRIS: [Laughs] Shit! I really love Bella Hadid's style and Lily Rose-Depp's too, but probably my biggest style icon, which might sound weird because we have the same name, is Iris Law. She really inspired all of my looks that I look up online and I think she's so cool and beautiful.

MAUDE: When was the last time you lied?
IRIS: To a large extent? Probably to my mother before my graduation, this is my biggest lie: my tattoo. I said that when I was in New York I burned my arm with an iron, but really I was just hiding my tattoo. I didn't want to use a Band-Aid on my prom pictures, so I told him beforehand.
MAUDE: It was crazy, you cornered her. I had no choice as everyone was at our house for the photos.
IRIS: But it was a good time! She couldn't be so mad at me because people were over.
MAUDE: I still can't believe you did that.
IRIS: Well, actually you should be flattered because it's for you.
MAUDE: I know, and I have such complicated feelings about this.
IRIS: [Laughs] I know why you didn't buy me one, so it still hurts.
MAUDE: You should have said the M was for Mom.
IRIS: I think I said that at some point to relieve him.
MAUDE: The next thing I was going to ask you was, what was the last thing you got in trouble for, but I want to know?
IRIS: Maude, you act like I'm doing terrible things. I probably got in trouble for getting another tattoo.
MAUDE: I was also mad at you the other day for not feeding the cats, but I don't think you were in trouble, I was just upset. now i will ask youthe bubble. Can you explain what this is about?
IRIS:the bubbleFollow this group of actors who are part of thisJurassic Park- weird franchise. They are all shipped to London during a heavy lockdown and must shoot a movie. It goes to show how everything that can go wrong goes wrong, and his behavior is horrible. They literally live in a castle, yet still manage to complain about everything that happens to them.
MAUDE: Do you find it weird to be in a real Bubble Shooter?the bubble?
IRIS: It wasn't weird, I was already in...
MAUDE: You were already thinking.
IRIS: Right. It was an interesting experience, but it was great having all the cast members, we all got along really well.
MAUDE: Who were you most nervous about climbing with?
IRIS: I was a little scared of everyone, but working with Fred [Armisen] was the scariest because he's so much fun.
MAUDE: Fred is the funniest person in the world. You are very close with Maria Bakalova, right? she is so amazing inboratand she is an amazing improviser. How was working with her?
IRIS: I love Maria because she felt like a big sister on set. She was very protective and always seemed very nervous, but she would just kill him.
MAUDE: I wouldn't expect that! You will seeboratAnd you say, "She must be fearless."
IRIS: Most of the people there are professionals, so I think she was just as nervous as everyone else. I know you had to work a lot on the Oscar campaign toboratduring filming, but she was so nice and such a good friend. When I entered university, we went for a walk for coffee as a celebration.
MAUDE: What was it like to be an older person working with Mom and Dad? Before that, the last time any of us worked with them was when we were so young I can barely remember what it was like.
IRIS: Working with them when I was 18, I felt the weight and the expectation to really do my part and work really hard because I was in a privileged position. I wasn't six anymore, I couldn't laugh and I couldn't memorize my lines. That's what made it great, because we all worked together and very much like a family. My dad was with me every day on set, but when my mom came over, she was so nice. Everyone wants their mom at work sometimes! So I was in a situation where I could have the comfort of my mother, and it was really nice to have lunch with her and all. It's definitely something I'm very lucky to have in my life, memories of working with my family throughout my life, especially at my age, it's great to look back on.
MAUDE: For me too. It's great to be able to see Mom and Dad working. I am grateful to have this in my life. Do you ever feel like it's more pressure because it's mom and dad and you want to impress them?
IRIS: Oh yes, absolutely. And they won't always say, "You're amazing!" Just because I'm their daughter, they won't constantly praise me. We are all working together and we all have to do our part.
MAUDE: In the movie you have a lot of choreographed dance numbers and you get to work with Ryan Huffington, who is the most amazing choreographer. I just worked with him onEuphoria- performed the big dance number in the episode seven play.
IRIS: He's so good. He made the iconic music video "Chandelier". We are both very lucky to be able to work with him in our lives. How random? I met him via Zoom before he choreographed any of the dances, he gave me a little choreography to see if I could do it and based the dances on what I was capable of.
MAUDE: Was everyone really excited to get back to work?
IRIS: Yes! I think everybody was really excited and everybody wanted to talk. It felt like we were all at school talking in the cafeteria.
MAUDE: It's like a summer camp!
IRIS: It was the most fun summer camp you could ever be at.
MAUDE: I definitely had a lot of FOMO, not gonna lie.
