Is there a way to play old Nintendo games on the Switch? ›

Subscribing to Switch's online service lets you access a library of old N64, SNES, NES and Genesis games, like a Netflix for Nintendo games. These are all found within the system-specific apps, which you can download from the eShop.

Spanning the NES, SNES, and N64 consoles, your Nintendo Switch can emulate some of the best titles from each platform, just as long as you have a Nintendo Switch Online Subscription and the Expansion Pass in the case of N64 emulation.

If you have other consoles and just want something to travel with, the Switch Lite is a good choice. Aside from being smaller and not being able to attach it to a TV, it's also $100 cheaper than the standard Switch.
